Ruud van Nistlerooy, Ji-sung Park and Wes Brown will return to the Manchester United Legends squad and will join veterans Paul Scholes, Dwight Yorke and Ronny Johnsen for the match in September.

Dutch striker van Nistlerooy is looking forward to stepping back onto the Hallowed Turf, after last appearing for the Manchester United Legends in 2013 against Real Madrid, during which he played half the match for each of his former teams.

"It will be great to be back at Old Trafford," he said. "I was lucky enough to represent United for five years and the support I received from the fans is something I'll never forget. In that sense, it will be good to go back, show them my gratitude and enjoy the game."

Former teammate Park added, "It’s good to be wearing the Manchester United shirt again and playing with some legends who I haven’t played with during my career.  The whole experience is great, like the dressing-room atmosphere and especially the support from the fans.”

Fans can also look forward to welcoming Andrew Cole back to the Old Trafford dugout as he takes on the role of assistant manager to Bryan Robson, and other favourites will also be stepping back out onto the hallowed turf, including Denis Irwin, Phil Neville and Louis Saha.

The Spanish side will be managed by José Mari Bakero and fans can look forward to welcoming Gaizka Mendieta, Éric Abidal, Miguel Angel Nadal, Gheorghe Popescu, Andoni Goikoetxea and Julio Salinas to the Theatre of Dreams.

Legends are Back 2017 follows the success of the 2013 and 2015 clashes against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively, which jointly raised over £1.8 million for Manchester United Foundation.

The Old Trafford event will also include live entertainment from top music acts and family activities outside the stadium.

The match will be shown live on MUTV in the UK and tickets are on sale now at Prices start from £20 for adults and £5 for under-16s, with hospitality packages available from £125. All proceeds will go to Manchester United Foundation’s work across Greater Manchester.
