Students thrilled to meet United U21 stars

Year 5 pupils took part in a Q&A session with up and coming Reds Joel Castro Pereira and Liam Grimshaw and were also presented with tickets to the forthcoming U21 home fixture against Leicester on 3rd November 2014.

The action then moved outside to the playground where students enjoyed participating in mini football drills with the players.

Nine-year-old Elizabeth was thrilled at the chance to meet United’s future stars: “I’ve really enjoyed playing football today with the Manchester United players; PE is my favourite subject so it was fun.”

Pereira was keen to offer advice to the young students: “If you have a dream, follow it; never give up and work hard. You set your goal and you do everything you can to reach it but you must also enjoy yourselves.”

Many of the students involved will begin studying Manchester United Foundation’s “Make United Look the Business” programme next term. The Premier League supported programme allows students to explore football as a business with activities relating to the creation of their own fictional company and designing a new football kit.

Rob Martin, Enterprise Officer at the Foundation, said, “Today was a great experience for both the students and players. I was really impressed with the questions that the children asked Joel and Liam as they relate directly to the enterprise programme that they will be studying next term.”
