Manchester United Girls Academy

At Manchester United we provide opportunities for girls to play football at the highest level, with the aim of developing international players.

Manchester United Girls Academy

In line with the club’s rich history in developing young players, Manchester United Women strives to nurture young girls and women through our player pathway – providing holistic development, life skills and opportunities to transition all the way through from the Under-9s to senior football. Each player’s development is aligned to their individual needs.

The Girls Academy has four phases:

• Professional Game Academy, U16 and U21s: weekly matches and training
• Youth Development, U12, U13, U14s: weekly matches and training
• Foundation Phase, U10 and U11s: weekly matches and training
• Emerging Talent Centre, U9, U11, U13 and U15s: weekly sessions and termly festivals during holidays. ETC players’ main club will remain a grassroots team.

Manchester United Foundation manages the Youth Development, Foundation and Emerging Talent Centre phases within the Girls Academy, with the overall vision of having the most successful talent development programme within girls football by revolutionising the way the game is learned and played.

Girls train in a safe, friendly and inspirational learning environment, which maximises the potential of each individual. Manchester United Women’s Millie Turner, Gabby George, Ella Toone and Katie Zelem are all graduates of the Girls Academy. The Girls Academy has been ranked as ‘world-leading’ by FIFA and has achieved Tier One Plus status from the FA for six consecutive seasons.
