How to set up this drill

Set up a 9m x 9m square. You will need two players in each square. Ensure the players are a safe distance apart where possible. Each player takes a turn to be the leader.

The leader starts on their line and dribbles towards the opposite side of the square. Their partner then follows the leader and dribbles next to them from a safe distance. At any point the leader can turn.

Their partner can only turn when they do and they must race the leader back to the start line. The player who reaches the start line first wins a point.

The rounds are three minutes long, the player with the most points at the end of the round wins the game.

After each round change the leaders.

Equipment we will need

4x cones to mark a 9m x 9m square.

2x footballs 

Don’t have cones? Try using household items like jumpers or water bottles to mark out your area.

Be sure to use hand sanitiser and wipe down any equipment. Always remember to maintain safe social distances when attempting Play Safe drills.
