Powerchair Football

Our Powerchair Football team works in partnership with Sale United FC and helps to promote football opportunities for wheelchair users. We launched our team in September 2017 with United defender Eric Bailly.

Powerchair Football

Coronavirus update:

Following the Government advice for people to avoid mass social contact and gathering where possible and the FA’s announcement to confirm the postponement of grassroots football in England, Manchester United Foundation has made the decision to postpone all community projects with immediate effect. This includes the Girls' Regional Talent Club, girls' futsal, Street Reds, Powerchair and Ability Counts.

Throughout this period, we have taken advice from Manchester United Football Club and the Government with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all, and feel it is no longer suitable to continue with the community sessions during this time.

We will communicate further plans in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Project info:

We run weekly sessions at Moss Side Millennium Powerhouse every Thursday 5.00pm – 7.00pm and it is open to wheelchair user of all ages.

There are also a number of opportunities for the team to compete against other teams including the Muscular Dystrophy National Leagues which are run by the Wheelchair Football Association. They were formed in 2005 to govern the sport of Powerchair Football in England. The WFA is recognised by the Football Association as the sports lead organisation and our laws are sanctioned by them.
