Under 16s Ability Counts
Following the Government advice for people to avoid mass social contact and gathering where possible and the FA’s announcement to confirm the postponement of grassroots football in England, Manchester United Foundation has made the decision to postpone all community projects with immediate effect. This includes the Girls' Regional Talent Club, girls' futsal, Street Reds, Powerchair and Ability Counts.
Throughout this period, we have taken advice from Manchester United Football Club and the Government with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all, and feel it is no longer suitable to continue with the community sessions during this time.
We will communicate further plans in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Offering young people with disabilities the opportunity to play or coach with Manchester United, our Ability Counts programme has grown into one of the largest in the Premier League.
Teams focus on players with a sensory, physical and neurological impairment or disability and sign communicators are present at all sessions.
Sessions run weekly on Fridays from 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm for all abilities, disabilities, girls and boys.
There are also a number of opportunities for the team to compete against other teams including the Greater Manchester Ability Counts League, which recently won the Greater Manchester Mayor's Award 2018.
