Cristiano Ronaldo has reflected on a very special day for the Manchester United squad, after Reds players surprised a group of primary school children at Carrington.

The youngsters, from St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School in Stockport, were taking part in an exercise class inside the training ground’s Jimmy Murphy Centre and, to their amazement, the first-team squad arrived to say hello and pose for pictures.

An extended video of the surprise is available to watch in the player to the right: look out for the children's amazing reactions to the players at 00:38 and then when minds have clearly been blown at 01:37...

Jordanna Roberts, primary schools manager at Manchester United Foundation, said the experience will stay with the children forever. “We were lucky enough to invite some pupils from our partner primary schools, and schools we work with in areas of high deprivation, so to be able to give them this opportunity is just unbelievable,” noted Jordanna.

“We are all in a bit of shock, to be honest, because the whole of the first team managed to come up and meet all of the children, and they were absolutely beside themselves. They are going to remember that for the rest of their lives. It was just unbelievable.

“They don’t get those kinds of opportunities. A lot of them don’t leave the areas that they live in, so to be able to see somebody who they idolise on the telly every week is just amazing.”

Ronaldo understands the importance of the club’s Foundation and the United legend always goes out of his way to help when he can. After spending time with the youngsters, Cristiano has now made them Instagram famous by posting their picture to his 425 million followers around the world.

‘A club such as ours is not only measured by the number of trophies in the museum,’ wrote United’s no.7. ‘We are also measured by our legacy to the generations to come, as well as what we manage to give back to the community. It’s always a privilege to say “present” to our loyal fans, especially to these amazing children. Thank you all for your support. The smiles on these
faces is what makes everything worth it.’
