Dream Days are held twice a year and take place at the Aon Training Complex, with players meeting fans with serious and life-limiting illnesses. Fans travel to the club’s training ground from across the country, with a few even travelling from international waters including Malta and Canada to meet their footballing heroes and watch first team training from the Jimmy Murphy Visitors’ Centre.

Red’s midfielder Paul Pogba, who was attending his first ever Dream Day, explained how important they are: “You realise how lucky you are when you see them fighting and battling with their conditions, we give our love to these children and to sign a shirt and have photographs with them it’s just a pleasure to do that. I want to make them smile and make their day happy.”

United skipper Wayne Rooney echoed his team mates thoughts: “Days like this are very important to the players. We come and see the kids and brighten up their day, it’s important for us to know we can be here for them.”

9-year-old Reece from Swinton suffers from a heart defect and only found out on the day where he was going: “I was really excited, when we got here we watched all the players train and I got my shirt signed. It’s been really exciting and it was really good to also do a few interviews with the players.”

Reece’s mum Natalie was thankful of the boost it would give her son and described her highlight of the day: “It’s just been wonderful to see Reece so happy. It’s been amazing he’s absolutely loved it, he did find out until last night and he’s been so excited this morning.”
