Supporters, players and staff at Manchester United have helped the global children’s charity provide life-saving supplies for youngsters affected by natural disasters. The partnership has helped build health centres in Africa, supported those with HIV, provided emergency shelter for trafficked children, and used football to give life-skills training for youngsters living on the streets.

 

Now, United for Unicef is helping to teach children in Bangladesh to swim – a country in which a child dies from drowning every 29 minutes; that’s 50 children per day, 18,000 per year.

 

Funds raised through the United for Unicef partnership are being used to train young people in Bangladesh to become swimming teachers. They will work in their communities to raise awareness of the importance of safe swimming and will be trained in basic survival and first aid skills. These skills are vital if we are to save children from drowning.

 

When it costs just £6 to teach a child to swim and help protect their life, we all have the power to help save and change children’s lives.
