Street Reds take part in Premier League Kicks Cup

The tournament, held at Hackney Marshes, was attended by over 600 young people from 47 professional football clubs around the UK.

For our Street Reds participants the tournament provided the ideal opportunity to represent Manchester United Foundation at a grassroots level. Head coach, Dean Ellul, was happy with how the team had conducted themselves at the event: “The team were very excited to travel to London and have the chance to play competitive football against other clubs,” he said. “For some of the group it’s the first time they’ve been to London. They did themselves proud with their attitude and behaviour over the weekend and all of the players have come away with the experience of playing in a national tournament.”

Premier League Kicks originated from a partnership between the Premier League and the Metropolitan Police and has been using the power of football to build safer, stronger communities since 2006. In the past year, the programme, which is funded by the Premier League and Sport England, has engaged with over 40,854 young people in the UK.
