The legends return: Bayern Munich vs Manchester United

The present-day German champions will take part in an open training session in front of a capacity crowd before the players of yesteryear test their mettle against each other. They’ll be bidding to turn back the clock and recreate some of the clubs’ epic meetings down the years, including the dramatic 1999 Champions League final.

Bayern legend and 1974 World Cup winner Paul Breitner will lead the German side, while Owen Hargreaves, Paulo Sérgio and Marc van Bommel will also pull on their boots for the occasion.  Bryan Robson will manage the Reds including Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Ronny Johnsen and Quinton Fortune.

The match follows the success of last year's clash between United and Real Madrid legends, which raised £1 million for Manchester United Foundation.  Once again, the return leg against Munich will be held at Old Trafford in the summer of 2015.

Tickets are on sale now for €5 (booking fees and postage apply) via the FC Bayern online ticket shop. Proceeds from the sales will go to an Allianz foundation for children. Every year Allianz, as well as its employees and agents, support more than 200 regional projects for children and young people in Germany.

FC Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented: “We are delighted to be able to offer our fans an event for the entire family together; I am sure it will be a very special.”
