Bid on a piece of Manchester United history

Manchester United Foundation is launching a monthly online auction of club memorabilia, and the first item on offer is a rare print featuring and signed by some of the greatest names to pull on a United shirt.

Auction for Change: Bid on a piece of Manchester United history

From Thursday 13th March you can visit the eBay auction website and bid for a signed print of “A Team For All Seasons”, a limited-edition painting featuring 16 legendary Reds. All proceeds from the sale of this must-have piece of club history will be donated to the Foundation, which works in some of the most disadvantaged areas across Greater Manchester and uses the passion for Manchester United to educate, motivate and inspire young people.

In 2006, the club commissioned local artist and lifelong fan Stuart Beckett to produce the work, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the first league title won by the Busby Babes by showing the 16 most influential players in that time.

Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson selected the squad for the painting, and their deliberations were so difficult that great club servants such as Bill Foulkes, Denis Irwin and Gary Neville missed the final cut.

The painting that is now available for auction on eBay was signed by all the then-living members of the squad depicted, and is one of only 50 numbered prints in existence.

Following the auction of “A Team For All Seasons”, there will be one item available each month on eBay with all the proceeds going to the Foundation.

Whether it’s original artwork, a classic shirt signed by a club legend or your very own piece of the Old Trafford pitch, we will have a different item of exclusive United memorabilia up for auction each month.  The money you help to raise will help fund the Foundation’s work with young people in the local community.

The painting features Sir Alex and Sir Matt along with this squad of United legends: Peter Schmeichel, Roger Byrne, Gary Pallister, Martin Buchan, Duncan Edwards, Nobby Stiles, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Bryan Robson, Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, George Best, Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney.
