Santa Run Success

Over 700 santas turned out for the Foundation's festive fundraiser this weekend raising thousands for charity.

Santa Run Success

The Foundation officially kicked off Christmas at Old Trafford on Sunday 6th December with a charity fun run featuring hundreds of Santas.

Old Trafford played host to the festive fun-runners, who this year got to see the inside of the stadium as for the first time, the route took them round the hallowed turf at the Theatre of Dreams.

That wasn't the only treat for fans as legend and reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer officially started the race with members of the Manchester United Reserves team, including Rafael and Fabio da Silva and rising star Federico Macheda.

Ole said: "I have started the Santa Run for the last few years now and it is always a great family event that gets you in the mood for Christmas.  This year was extra special for runners as they got to see inside the stadium too.  I think last year raised around £15,000 so I hope this year is just as successful."

The club’s official charity partners The New Children’s Hospital Appeal, The Legacy Rainbow House, Francis House, The Christie Charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and The Children’s Society all benefitted from the run, which  was also open to anyone who wanted to run for another charitable cause that is close to their hearts.

After the race, our Santas also got the chance to browse festive stalls, hear local schools singing carols and take part in football activities.
