On Their Bikes

A group of Manchester United staff, that included Reds chief executive David Gill, were put through their paces recently when they cycled from Manchester to Blackpool to raise money for the Foundation.

John Shiels, Gary French, Gordon Shields, Mark Gyves, David Gill and Nick Humphreys cycled over sixty miles to the seaside resort to raise money for the Foundation’s work in the community. Reds sponsor Betfred also lent its support to the event by donating £500 towards the team’s fundraising efforts.

John Shiels, chief executive at the Foundation said:

“It makes me extremely proud that the staff at the Club and also the sponsors, are taking the Foundation into their hearts and we are really grateful that they gave up their Sunday to take part.  The race was hard work, I was aching a lot the next day, but it was very rewarding I am looking forward to next year already.”

“This year we just asked Manchester United staff to be involved but if any Manchester United fans fancy a challenge next year we would love them to cycle for the Foundation.  If I can do it, anyone can!"
