Special delivery with United legends on Tour

The legendary duo took part in a coaching session in Seattle where they hosted skills and drills along with Foundation chief executive John Shiels.

Club sponsor Aon is the principal partner of Manchester United Foundation and also works closely with the Special Olympics to enable those with learning disabilities to enjoy and engage in education and sport.

Foundation trustee Denis Irwin has been involved in activity with the Special Olympics through the club’s partnership with Aon in recent years and explained the importance of engaging young people in sport:

“Sport is very important, it keeps you fit, socially it keeps you involved and you also pick up so many friends playing sport.  It’s a really great cause and I think it’s something that will live with the kids forever.

“It’s something we’ve done on other tours and it’s one of the events I enjoy the most. The Foundation does some fantastic work in Manchester and we try to replicate that in the cities we visit. When you get back home it is these visits that stay with you.”

Throughout the Tour, the Foundation, Aon and the Special Olympics also delivered sessions in San Francisco and Chicago with former United players Dwight Yorke and Quinton Fortune.
