Ladies’ Lunch raises over £26,000

Hosted by lifelong Red and Foundation trustee, Eamonn Holmes, and his wife Ruth Langsford, for the fourth consecutive year, the event offered an afternoon tea extravaganza and guests were able to win exclusive items on the prize raffle and auction.

Entertainment was provided by actor and presenter Christopher Biggins, chef Aldo Zilli and singers Rowetta and Will Mellor, who stole the show with his renditions of Mustang Sally and Superstition.  Coronation Street stars Antony Cotton, Ryan Thomas and Bruno Langley were also in attendance.

The event was also attended by the wives and girlfriends of Manchester United first-team players and legends.  Led by Hayley Fletcher, the ladies included Bouchra van Persie and Helen Evans, plus Kaya Hall and Nicky Pike; girlfriends of Phil Jones and Ashley Young respectively.

Will Mellor, who was joined on stage by a crowd of dancing ladies from the audience, commented, “I’m a big supporter of the Foundation, the work it does is very special to me, especially with me having children myself. Every father will say this is a great thing to support and we need to do more of it.”

Host Eamonn Holmes added, “It’s amazing what the Foundation does.  Changing young people’s lives through sport, that’s what it’s all about. It’s great to see money being raised.”

Over £26,000 was raised at the event with all proceeds going towards Manchester United Foundation’s work with young people in the local community.
