Ladies’ Lunch is a Big(gins) success!

Star guests Christopher Biggins and Shayne Ward went down a storm at the Foundation Ladies’ Lunch, which raised £20,000 for local charities.

Ladies’ Lunch is a Big(gins) success!

The larger than life television personality took to the stage with fellow celebrities Sally Lindsay and Matt Johnson plus hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, who fronted the Lunch for the third consecutive year, as the format took on a chat show theme.

Over 300 ladies gathered for the annual event at Old Trafford, and were delighted to be treated to temperature-raising performance by X Factor winner Shayne Ward, who performed a selection of his hit singles including That’s My Goal and No Promises.

Shayne said, “To perform here is amazing; I’m just in total awe every time I approach Old Trafford.  It’s just a different world so to be here and have all those eyes on me is pretty cool.”

Biggins also commented on the importance of charity events, “It is very important that we support charities as they need as much help as they can possibly get.  If we can give a little back into a profession that has been so marvellous to us, it’s easy.”

Wives and girlfriends of the Manchester United first-team players were also in attendance as was Coronation Street star Antony Cotton, who is a firm supporter of the Club and the Foundation.

Guests also enjoyed a three-course meal, delicious treats from the Naked Chocolatiers and were able to be pampered in the Selfridges Beauty Village.  A prize raffle and exclusive auction helped to raise £20,000, to be split between the Manchester United Foundation and our local charity partners, Francis House Children’s Hospice and The Christie.
