Stars from the world of sport and showbiz took to the dance floor in a bid to take home the glitter ball trophy, including United icon Quinton Fortune, former Bolton Wanderers player Fabrice Muamba, Coronation Street favourites Antony Cotton, Shobna Gulati and Jennie McAlpine and 2012 Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lisa Riley.

The event, which took place on Thursday 7th March at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, was hosted by Angus Deayton and Ulrika Jonsson who were joined by a celebrity judging panel that included former Strictly judge and award-winning choreographer Arlene Phillips, dancer and TV-personality Louie Spence, and United Legends Gary Neville and Nicky Butt

Strictly Come Dancing professionals James and Ola Jordan, plus former stars Lilia Kopylova and Darren Bennett also performed spectacular show dances before Antony Cotton and Lisa Riley were crowned Dancing with United champions.

Chief executive of the Manchester United Foundation, John Shiels, said: “Tonight has been fabulous. We are thrilled that a great amount was raised for the Foundation, which will help to support our projects for underprivileged children in the local community. Special thanks go to our hosts and judges but especially to those that took to the dance floor and gave the audience a wonderful evening of entertainment.”

One half of the winning couple, Antony Cotton commented, “I’m so thrilled with the result, the energy was right and the crowd were behind us all the way, but I couldn’t have done it without Lisa!”

As well as great entertainment on the dance floor guests were treated to a three-course meal and an auction of money-can’t-buy prizes, including a dinner date with Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli at the world famous River Café in London.
