UNICEF's appeal to fans

UNICEF is calling on United fans around the world to support its East Africa Children’s Crisis Appeal.

UNICEF's appeal to fans

MUFC is passionate about young people reaching their full potential, which is why we’ve partnered with UNICEF for more than a decade.

Right now in parts of Somalia, a child is dying every six minutes. That’s 15 children who will be dead in the time it takes us to play a football match… the clock is ticking and it’s time to share.

Share this message with your friends on Facebook and help UNICEF to save lives by texting SHARE to 78866 to donate £5 (UK only) (which could feed a malnourished child for a week) or donate online: http://bit.ly/fbtts

The current drought in East Africa (encompassing Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Djibouti) has been one of the worst for 60 years, leaving pastures barren, water sources dry and livestock starving.

Drought and conflict are causing tens of thousands of families to cross from Somalia to Kenya and Ethiopia each month, placing further strain on already overstretched refugee camps.

UNICEF continues to work in this region, delivering lifesaving nutrition and other basic supplies to keep vulnerable children alive and prevent disease.

In the most affected areas of Ethiopia, UNICEF has distributed food to almost 34,000 severely malnourished children, and ensured access to water and sanitation for over 280,000 people.

In South Somalia, UNICEF and its partners are also providing basic health care services to nearly 900,000 people, and water and sanitation to over a million. We are also helping to treat over 12,000 malnourished children in Kenya.

UNICEF urgently requires funds to reach malnourished children in East Africa. Please donate now.
