Summer Fundraising

In the closed season, the Foundation and the Club’s charity partners have been busy fundraising.

Summer Fundraising

Unicef, The Children's Society and Cystic Fibrosis Trust all brought teams to play on the world famous Old Trafford pitch and thousands of riders descended on Old Trafford as The Christie Charity set off the North West's biggest bike ride from the stadium.

The annual Carrington Charity Challenge Cup also took place in June and raised around £20,000 for the Club's charity partners.  Celebrities and Manchester United legends joined members of the public who have fundraised for charity to compete in a tournament at the first team's training ground.  The team representing The Legacy – Rainbow House from the Fox and Lion, took home the coveted trophy.

Speaking of his experience, Neil Menzies the Fox and Lion’s Manager, said:

“The day at Carrington was absolutely fabulous and was enjoyed by all the players. It was also a great success in promoting the Legacy Rainbow House.  Our pub has supported The Legacy Rainbow House in the past and we hope to organise more fundraising events in the future through the football team and the pub to support this fantastic local charity.”

The other team representing The Legacy Rainbow House was Eccleston and Heskin FC. This team also got through to the final stages of the tournament.

Joe Mawdsley, Founder and Director of Services at The Legacy Rainbow House said:

“Both teams were a credit to our charity in the way they played and in their sportsmanship. We are delighted that the Fox and Lion team won the Charity Challenge and we thank them for their support on the day and the plans they have to fundraise for us in the future.”
