The Foundation is based just over the railway bridge on Sir Matt Busby Way, right next to the famous Old Trafford stadium. We often use the stadium for exciting events to raise money for the Foundation and Manchester United's charity partners

Recently, we have offered the once in a lifetime opportunity to play on the hallowed turf, the chance to watch Sir Alex Ferguson put his first team through a full training session and for the braver folk a chance to abseil the North Stand.

September saw one or two extra famous faces visit Old Trafford. Actor John Thomson was amongst those willing to abseil the North Stand in the name of charity.  Francis House and Cystic Fibrosis Trust raised around £90,000 to go towards funding for a team of home care nurses and to cover the patient costs associated with a gene therapy multi-dose clinical trial programme in an attempt to find a treatment for CF.

Two charities benefited from the chance to play on the Old Trafford pitch. The New Children’s Hospital Appeal and The Legacy - Rainbow House invited guests for a half day of pitch activity.

The Open Training family day gave thousands of fans the chance to watch the likes of Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville show off their skills in a full training session on the pitch at Old Trafford.  It was a great day out for the whole family and also included a visit from team mascot Fred the Red and the Manchester United Academy.  Fans were given the chance to take part in penalty shoot out competitions and football coaching from the Foundation’s Football in the Community coaches, with fairground rides, bouncy castles and other special events taking part around the stadium.
