The Charity Challenge Cup

On 21st June 2008 Manchester United's six charity partners will offer the once in a lifetime chance to go to, see and play in the heart of the first team training facilities in Carrington.

Manchester United legends including Brian McClair, David May, Clayton Blackmore, Arthur Albiston and Lee Martin, will manage the teams in a seven-a-side tournament for the Club's six charity partners: The New Children’s Hospital Appeal, The Legacy Rainbow House, Francis House, Christie’s, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and The Children’s Society.  The teams will compete for the Charity Challenge Cup, with the ultimate aim of raising thousands for charity. 
 
John Shiels, Chief Executive, Manchester United Foundation said:

“It is going to be a great day for everyone involved.  To begin with, meeting not one, but six Manchester United legends is an opportunity any fan would relish.  But let’s not forget the ultimate aim of the day – to raise as much money as possible for six very worthy charities.”

Ex- first team goalkeeper coach Tony Coton will also be helping out on the day.  He said:

“I am looking forward to managing a team on the day and it is great to get together with all the lads again.  We are happy that we can help out especially as the day is for such a good cause.  Of course it is all about raising money, but I am sure the old competitive nature will take over when we all get together. ”

Places on the day are limited.  The minimum individual entry fee is £250, or £2500 for a team of 10.  Anyone wishing to be involved should email charities@mufoundation.org with full contact details or contact their chosen charity direct.
