Manchester United Foundation will be taking over proceedings at Old Trafford this weekend as the Reds take on Blackburn Rovers in a charity-themed game and we're aiming to get 20,000 fans following us on Facebook by the final whistle.   So we're urging anyone at the stadium or at home online to visit www.facebook.com/manchesterunitedfoundation, ‘like' the MU Foundation - and get their friends involved.

The themed game will see staff right across the Club urging supporters to find out more about the work of Manchester United Foundation, with an overall message to ‘GET INVOLVED’. Manchester United players will warm-up before the match wearing MU Foundation bibs, with even the ball-boy’s t-shirts bearing the message of the day. Ahead of the game, MU Foundation’s Girls Centre of Excellence will showcase their skills outside of the North Stand, an event which will mark the charity’s first ever Girls Football Week of training sessions and fixtures. 

As a result of the Foundation’s many projects, events and programmes over the past year, Manchester United Foundation is proud to announce the following figures:

• Over 100,000 young people have attended a project or programme in the last year.  This is over double the figure from last year.

• Manchester United Foundation has helped to raise a staggering £706,132.71 for charity in 12 months.*

• In the area surrounding the Manchester Health Academy in Wythenshawe, there has been a 25% reduction in anti-social behaviour since our evening community cohesion project began.

The Foundation has had another fantastic year and many of the Club’s players and legends have been involved in the charity’s projects, recent highlights include; Ryan Giggs and Sir Alex Ferguson announcing the Club’s commitment of £1million of funding for UNICEF’s child development programme, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s involvement in raising awareness of men’s health issues at the Raise Your Game project, Nemanja Vidic and Dimitar Berbatov officially opening a new cancer research centre at The Christie Hospital, Owen Hargreaves’ support of a project that aims to encourage reading in primary school children, and Sir Bobby Charlton officially opening a new partner school in Wythenshawe.
