Q. How is Inclusive Reds different from Ability Counts and mainstream activities provided by Manchester United Foundation?

A. Inclusive Reds includes Ability Counts and supports mainstream activities as we ensure our sessions are accessible to young people with disabilities and additional needs. We aim to create an inclusive culture across all areas of the Foundation.

Q. Do I have to bring my own equipment?

A. No, just attend with general sports clothes and a drink.

Q. Is there a cost to get involved?

A. All sessions are free of charge.

Q. Are other sports included rather than football?

A. Currently only football, but the plan is for different sports to be on offer as we expand the project. Please get in touch if there is a specific sport you are interested in.

Q. Will there be competitions and leagues to play in?

A. There are currently leagues for both the Ability Counts and Powerchair teams. The Ability Counts teams play in the Greater Manchester Ability Counts  Leagues. The Powerchair teams play in Muscular Dystrophy UK Premiership and North West PFL.

Q. Are there any opportunities for coaching badges either disability league or otherwise?

A. We offer a range of training opportunities for participants, staff, volunteers and parents.

Q. What are the goals of the project?

A. To encourage more disabled young people (5-18 years) to access inclusive sport in Greater Manchester. 

Q. How is the project funded?

A. The project is supported by the Premier League and BT Sport.

Q. What is the future of the project?

A. The future will include both disability specific and inclusive sessions across Greater Manchester, embedding lifelong participation in sport and physical activity. We will educate both disabled and non-disabled people to be able to deliver fun, safe, sporting activities and help to provide leadership and employability opportunities.

Q. What is a the male/female balance in the project? Are there separate sessions?

A. Girls are welcome to attend Ability Counts and we hope to have a girls' team in the future. There is opportunity for girls to participate in the Powerchair team, where we currently have some female players.
