Christmas Hospital Visits

Christmas came early to children across Manchester last week as the Manchester United first team headed out to deliver presents to poorly children, who may be in hospital at Christmas time. 

Children being treated on the wards at The Christie Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and Booth Hall Children's Hospital all received a visit from the first team.

There was a festive twist for Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher when they visited Booth Hall this year.  They joined children from the wards, past hospital patients and Manchester United legends Sir Bobby Charlton, Andy Cole and Wilf McGuiness for a ‘Christmas Carol’ past, present and future themed Christmas party.

Hosted by the New Children’s Hospital Appeal, the party celebrated the many years that the players have visited Booth Hall and Pendlebury hospitals.  Next year the two hospitals will be relocated to the brand new state-of-the-art Children’s Hospital in Manchester city centre.

One of Manchester United's charity partners, the Appeal will help ensure the new hospital, which will be the biggest children’s hospital in the UK, has equipment and facilities that are second to none.
