The eight-week series will see a weekly football challenge released by Mata on Manchester United Foundation’s YouTube channel.

Each new episode will feature participants from Foundation projects giving their best in an attempt to join the midfielder at the Super 8 Finals at Manchester United’s Aon Training Complex in March.

The first episode sees young people from the Foundation’s Volunteer Ninety Nine project attempting to score goals through five tyres hanging from a cross bar at Old Trafford Sports Barn.

The challenge, which aims to raise awareness of the Foundation’s work across Greater Manchester, is part of an ongoing commitment by the Reds player who is renowned for his charitable work with the Foundation.

Foundation chief executive John Shiels explained the benefit of the collaboration to the Foundation: “We’re really pleased that Juan Mata has given his time to this campaign. The Super 8 challenge helps to bring together participants from across our projects, whilst also giving them a fantastic opportunity to have a kick about with a special Manchester United player. This project will also inspire the 3,500 young people the Foundation works with each week across Greater Manchester.”

The #MataSuper8 challenge can be followed every Tuesday from 9am on the Manchester United Foundation YouTube channel.
