Season’s Greetings

This year has been a busy year for the Foundation and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters.

Season’s Greetings

We have moved forward in all areas and touched the lives of thousands of young people along the way.

  • We launched several new projects including Premier League 4 Sport aimed at encouraging more young people to take part in Olympic sports to improve their health and leave a lasting legacy for the 2012 Olympics.
  • Our Disability Centre of Excellence is now the first in the Premier League to be staffed entirely with disabled coaches.
  • Football in the Community took a new direction with coaches being placed out in communities accross Manchester forming the hub of the community project.
  • The world’s fastest man - Usain Bolt - became a Friend of the Foundation
  • Our Something to Chew On programme has been adapted as a flagship programme by Premier League Rugby and will now be promoted nationally throughout the network.
  • Following the success of our Trafford Kickz programme aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour in the region, we have started new projects in Wythenshawe and Salford.
  • Kyle O’Connor became the first young person to come through the Kickz programme to be employed as a coach by the Foundation.
  • We developed links with Headley Court to help ex-servicemen to recover from their war injuries and arranged visits for ex-soldiers to meet first team players and the Manchester United amputee team.
  • The first ever Foundation Sahara Challenge raised around £40,000 for our work in the community.
  • We were awarded FA Girls Centre of Excellence in June and our girls teams are thriving in the Centre of Excellence leagues.
  • 700 + charities received  signed merchandise for fundraising purposes

What a year!  Thanks for your support and see you in 2010!
