Preseason Manchester United Under 17s Girls vs Sporting Club Albion

United got off to a strong start and dominated possession for early periods of the game making easy work of pinning Albion back in their own half. The dominance paid off and United broke the deadlock when Loukes hit a wonder strike on the half volley from twenty yards out. United continued to push forward and were trying build on the early lead when they were caught on the break and conceded an outstanding lobbed shot by Albion’s centre forward.

The second half brought a better standard of football with both sides looking strong going forward. The visitors eventually took the lead in the 52nd minute leaving United desperately needing to convert the chances they were readily creating. Ten minutes later and United levelled the game through Baptista whose hard work and persistence had finally paid off.

Albion however never looked out of the friendly and punished United with a soft third goal. Two minutes later a motivated Loukes took the game into her own hands, driving forward and weaving through five Albion defenders to beat the goalkeeper and equalise the game at 3-3.

United’s dominance in possession, ease of creating chances, and strength to get back into the game were all positive signs. The girls’ will now look to build on their performance as they visit Birmingham on Saturday in their next pre-season game.
