Manchester United Foundation takes part in Global Entrepreneurship Week

Global Entrepreneurship Week is taking place 17th - 23rd November and is aimed at inspiring people through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.

Ten Year 12 students from the school were at the iconic stadium to continue their study of the Foundation’s Enterprise programme, ‘United the Business’. The programme looks at Manchester United as a business rather than in isolation as a football club, with students exploring topics including products and services as well as customer service and advertising. Upon completion of the programme, students receive an OCR entry level 3 award in Business and Enterprise.

17-year-old Jean Lamb said, “The course is good, we’ve been learning a lot of new things but I think my favourite part has been having the opportunity to come up with our own product”

Year 12/13 Teaching Assistant Michelle Brown added, “The programme has been really good for our students. Their confidence has grown, especially working with Rob who has been brilliant facilitating the course”

Enterprise Officer, Rob Martin, delivers the course throughout many of the Foundation’s partner schools in Greater Manchester. He said, “The enterprise programme allows students to develop their business and enterprise skills through a football club, and learn about business in a different manner than they usually would.”

He concluded “It’s great for these students to be involved in the programme and to be studying part of it here at Old Trafford, especially during Global Entrepreneurship Week. I hope it inspires them to be the next generation of leaders.”
