Manchester United employee Rob James will undertake a gruelling race across the Sahara desert this week in aid of Manchester United Foundation. Fans and supporters who sponsor Rob for his demanding challenge will be in with a chance of winning two tickets to the Manchester United vs Sunderland game on 6th December.
The Sahara Race takes part between 26th October and 1st November and is part of the 4 Desert series. It’s a seven-day, 150 mile (250km) self-supported race with participants averaging between 35-42km a day for the first four days, followed by a 100km, two day fifth stage, which ends at the Pyramids in Giza. Participants must carry all their personal food and equipment throughout the race.
Rob is a seasoned ultra-marathon runner. Back in March, he raced across the Atacama desert for the Foundation, finishing an amazing second overall.
He said: "I knew it would be a tough race and whilst doing it for charity was the main goal, I was secretly hoping for a top five placing. It was great to be able to meet and run with people from different backgrounds and raise awareness of Manchester United's charity and community work. Now I am looking forward to the next challenge."
Donations can be made by visiting the fundraising page www.justgiving.com/robjames and anyone who donates and supplies the relevant contact details will automatically be entered into the draw.
Supporters can follow Rob’s progress online at www.4deserts.com/atacamacrossing/
The funds raised will go towards helping the Foundation to run projects that use the passion for Manchester United to inspire young people and benefit communities in Greater Manchester, the North West and worldwide.
