The Children’s Society
The Children’s Society is a national organisation driven by the belief that every child has a right to a good childhood. They provide vital help and understanding for those forgotten children who face the greatest danger, discrimination or disadvantage in their daily lives; children who are unable to find the support they need anywhere else. They work with children to stop their childhoods being taken away. When childhoods are stolen, they give them back.
The Children's Society's Good Childhood Inquiry is the UK's first independent inquiry into what makes for a good childhood in today's increasingly complex world. The inquiry panel, made up of leading experts and influencers, will consider evidence on six main areas of children's lives - friends, family, learning, lifestyle, health and values. Its final report and recommendations, which will be launched in late 2008, will create a new vision for childhood in the twenty-first century.
Following the findings of The Good Childhood Inquiry, The Children’s Society and Manchester United will agree the appropriate project to be funded through the partnership.
